JOB SUMMARY:The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for providing school behavioral treatment services to children struggling with severe emotional and behavioral challenges in the public school setting including developing and managing individual assessment, treatment and services through an Applied Behavioral Analysis model for children enrolled in the schools of Central Vermont Supervisory Union.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with school and district staff to promote positive student behavior.
- Develop programming in collaboration with the student's educational team to address specific behavior and education needs of students.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and other educational assessments to address behavior concerns and determine appropriate educational programming and goals.
- Selects and implements interventions and strategies according to the needs of the student and prepares written support plans in a format accessible to staff, family, and other professionals.
- Collect, analyze, and graph behavior data as it pertains to educational goals/objectives for the purpose of monitoring progress and revising programming as needed.
- Work with students who exhibit maladaptive/unexpected behaviors, including de-escalation and crisis intervention support.
- Support teachers and staff in identifying and working with challenging behaviors through ongoing consultation, modeling, and program support.
- Develop and provide professional development and resources for staff in data collection, positive behavior supports, intervention techniques, instructional methodologies, and general information regarding student behaviors.
- Ensure that all treatment methodologies are evidence-based and reflect the most recent research findings
- Attend IEP, eligibility, or other school based meetings to develop interventions for promoting students’ academic success.
- Works with parents to maintain consistency in implementing behavioral interventions.
- Participate in job related professional development activities to improve or maintain certification/skills.
- Collaborate with building and district leadership to develop and modify BCBA programming as needed.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of clients and families based on FERPA policies and laws.
- Adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Code of Ethics
OTHER PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and submits accurate, complete, timely and effective reports as required by law, district policy, and/or administrative direction.
- Communicates/collaborates effectively with parents to keep families informed of the instructional programs and individual student progress, and effectively responds to parent concerns to help meet the educational needs of the student.
- Actively participates in school events, workshops, in-service meetings, teacher trainings, building level staff meetings, district meetings, and other school and district committees/projects, making substantial contributions.
- Actively participates in assisting and supporting other educators and administrators in the school and/or district.
- Demonstrates skills consistent with serving culturally and linguistically diverse students and families
- Follows and assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and procedures, and policies of the CVSU.
- Assists in planning and directing the activities of assigned paraeducators; plays an advisory role in paraeducator evaluations.
- Participate in the implementation of the school safety and crisis response plans including training and drill practice.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following:
- acceptable graduate degree from an accredited university, completion of acceptable graduate coursework in behavior analysis, and a defined period of supervised practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam, OR an acceptable graduate degree, a full-time faculty position in behavior analysis that includes research and teaching, and supervised practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam, OR acceptable doctoral degree that was conferred at least 10 years ago and at least 10 years’ post-doctoral practical experience to apply for the BCBA exam. Minimum 3 years’ experience as BCBA Preferred experience in K-12 educational setting
- Must hold current BCBA credentials through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional texts and journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of parents, students, staff, and the general public.
- : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in various forms and to deal with many abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties and manages obstacles and constraints positively.
- : Ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Office, Google Suite (email, calendar, docs, sheets), grading, student information systems, assessment systems, and new software programs as systems upgrade.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above, in addition to the following: Under most circumstances, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb steps; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, move and/or restrain school-aged students. Employees are regularly required to handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Direct student service hours are capped at 35 hours/week. These service hours include contract hours with students, supervision of 1:1 staff, collaboration with school/district staff, IEP and site team meeting participation.
The average caseload per BCBA is 7 intensive needs students.
