Purchasing Coordinator

Defibtech is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator responsible for supporting the planning and purchasing of materials. This position is based onsite at our manufacturing site in Branford, CT.
Core Responsibilities:
- Executes purchases based on company policy, including compliance with Quality standards, Levels of Approval and Purchase Order Processing instructions.
- Purchases assigned materials per defined triggers or authorized requests.
- Periodically expedites deliveries and updates Purchase Orders accordingly.
- Collaborates with members of Supply Chain, Inventory Management, and Production to support and plan material procurement strategies.
- Manages material returns to suppliers.
- Manages Kan Ban stock programs with inventory personnel for replenishment.
- Works with Accounting and Finance teams to troubleshoot invoicing issues.
- Participates in supplier evaluations and periodic reviews as required.
- Maintains open purchase orders, including line-item accuracy. Collaborate with production and vendors to verify delivery dates and adjust purchase orders with vendors accordingly.
- Demonstrates Defibtech’s values on the job and promotes and participates in continuous improvement.
- Actively supports compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Systems Regulations, safety regulations and applicable statutes).
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience required.
- At least 2 years of previous experience with supporting business operations.
- Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems - Epicor or SAP preferred.
- Understanding of the different classes of inventory (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, MRO, service parts, damaged and obsolete).
- Strong interpersonal communication skills in writing, over the phone, and in-person.
- Ability to work cross functionally and with external suppliers.
- Ability to always work with all internal and external contacts in a positive and courteous manner
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work environment is primarily office based, with occasional warehouse tasks.
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 lbs.; frequent walking/standing.
