Job Duties:
· Managing assigned purchasing areas that efficiently and cost effectively support the operation.
· Works directly with suppliers to ensure quality, cost and delivery standards are met while following purchasing policies and procedures.
· Managing many suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, negotiating prices, maintaining in-stock inventory levels, analyzing inventory trends and look for leveraged opportunities are all key to this position.
- Manage a network of vendors to ensure on-time delivery of quality products.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate the best terms, pricing, and delivery.
- Place purchase orders, control inventory, ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels and minimize overstock or stock out conditions.
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to the point of delivery. Partner with warehouse teams to expedite the receiving and check-in of goods and materials.
- Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Sales and Engineering on sales events, new items, product availability and quality related issues.
- Research and evaluate potential new sources of supply. On-board new suppliers as needed.
- Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
Required Skills:
- 2-5 years’ experience as a buyer, replenishment re-buyer or inventory planner
- Good computer skills: Experience with Microsoft Office Products, such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong follow-up/follow through skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
· Self-starter and independent thinker that can work with a wide range of personalities under limited supervision.
- Occasional domestic travel to trade shows, company events and supplier locations.
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s Degree
- Automotive parts industry experience
- MS Access and Microsoft Navision experience a plus
- Understand forecasting methods (demand, trend, seasonality). Optimizing inventory across multiple distribution centers is a major plus.
