Purchasing Agent’s Responsibilities:
- Advises department heads regarding purchase and supply requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of merchandise and delivery needs.
- Assists clients in obtaining proper specifications, quotations, delivery terms and costs.
- Explores and recommends alternatives to save or improve delivery.
- Solicits and analyzes quotations for new or nonstandard items.
- Recommends or approves awarding of contracts or purchase orders.
- Places purchase orders based on assigned authorization or signing limit.
- Surveys vendors regarding pricing, availability and delivery times to determine best and/or possible new supply sources.
- Researches and resolves problems with vendors and company departments to facilitate the purchasing process.
- Ensures purchases comply with internal and external requirements and regulations as well as good purchasing practice.
- Serve as a tactical resource to help procure quality products and services while being hyper focused on expediting and delivery.
- Follow up on vendors confirmations
- Perform forecast demand of raw material as it relates to inventory levels.
- Work with team members to execute purchasing processes to ensure stock optimization and raw material inventory management.
- Maintain service and maintenance tickets as it relates to scheduling outside services and purchases.
- Coordinate delivery method both domestic and international.
- Negotiate and maintain pricing and ensure ERP system is updated with appropriate Vendor information
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and manage their performance.
- Conduct routine supplier business reviews, evaluating supplier performance and compliance.
- Assist in the receipt of purchased materials and services and keep detailed records of purchases and stock.
- Carefully monitor deliveries and any past due shipments.
- Update management on industry as it relates to purchasing.
- Informs staff on government restrictions and regulations and company policy and procedures related to purchasing.
- Maintains proficiency in automated systems used for purchasing functions such as inventory control, vendor contract information, cost control and bid analysis.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and five years purchasing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Primary knowledge of ISO 9001 Standard.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively.
- Strong analytic skills and accuracy to details
- Ability to read and comprehend required specifications.
- Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated.
- Passionate about taking the company’s best practices to a higher level of performance.
- Computer literate in Windows-based database programs and MS Office products
- ERP experience a plus.
- Quickbooks enterprise experience a plus.
- Chemical manufacturing experience a plus.
- Possess excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multitask independently.
- Ability to think independently, communicate thoroughly, and influence the implementation of the appropriate purchasing processes.
- Ability to make independent judgments to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the purchasing department.
- Leadership skills and a proactive mindset and not reactive.
