Liberty Doctors is looking for an experienced Certified Medical Assistant to work full time in our Family Medicine Practice on James Island in Charleston, SC. Office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mon. through Fri. We offer an excellent benefits package including health insurance, paid vacation, competitive salary and 401(k). Reports to: Physician and Practice Manager
Job Summary: Under the guidance of a physician or mid-level provider, a CMA will provide nursing services and other appropriate forms of medical care to patients in an outpatient setting. As part of the medical team, the CMA will serve in a supportive role to the primary care provider carrying out the duties necessary to provide optimal patient care. This can include communicating directly with patients and their families both face to face and via phone and communicating with other members of the medical team to appropriately coordinate care. CMA is responsible for obtaining patient’s medical history, conducting patient education, assisting with lab tests and other duties related to patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant
- Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
- Administer injections to patients as requested by Physician.
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
- Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Healthcare field and medical specialty

Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Knowledge of EHRs (if applicable)
Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
Education and Experience:
High school diploma; some college preferred
LPN \ CMA certification required
3 to 5 years of experience in medical office required

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
