Develops knowledge of functional area policies and procedures, and performs routine testing functions in the laboratory
Develops an understanding of applicable Quality System modules, cGMP requirements, laboratory processes and procedures, and other regulatory authority requirements.
Develops operational proficiency using analytical techniques and instrumentation to support testing for applicable products.
Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities.
Contributes to projects as assigned and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
Ensures compliance with HACCP, most current SQF code, laboratory standard requirements as well as food safety and quality prerequisite programs.
Contributes to efficient and effective departmental operations, including department quality control and compliance adherence
Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
Assists with R&D projects to develop new beverages and products
Performs routine maintenance on critical equipment as needed. Assists in the repair of instrumentation when breakdowns occur.
Assists in ordering consumables for the laboratories.
Requirements:
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or related field
Associate's degree with related work experience
Strong background in laboratory skills and knowledge such as digital scales, glassware, pipettes, Erlenmeyer flasks, burettes, beakers, etc. Must be able to perform product analysis on HPLC system, Ion Chromatography system, and Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, prep samples through extraction and filtration, troubleshoot equipment, analyze results and maintain a results database
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge of database software; Excel and Word Processing software
