Job Summary:
We are a growing business and due to a retirement, we are in search of a leader who can guide the financial systems that empower us. We’re searching for a chief financial officer to join our team of high-performing professionals. The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our financial position. This position will utilize current accounting practices and software and also lead a team of accountants at several locations. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.
Objectives:
Take responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy and hiring needs
- Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
- Overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
- Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows
- Comply with all financial reporting requirements as needed
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with senior managers to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to financial information, and reporting
- Oversee and coordinate all cash flow management with Company Controller and financial personnel
- Assist in evaluation of financial opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement and improvement
- Oversee, with the assistance of IT professionals, the Company’s data warehousing and database structure
- Oversee Risk Management protocol policy at company
- Oversee Human Resource (HR) operations by coordinating with external service providers (ex: benefits, recruitment) and internal staff responsible for other aspects of HR. Including the assistance in development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports and presentations as needed by the CEO
- Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
- Schedule, plan and manage company’s annual audit of financial statements and benefit programs (ex: 401k and Profit-Sharing Plan)
- Manage and drive the close of internal monthly financial statements within 7 to 10 days of month end.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Three or more years of experience in leadership roles
- Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
Preferred skills and qualifications
- (CPA) Certified Public Accountant or advanced degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance
- Knowledge of agriculture business, retail convenience and auto part stores is a plus
