Job Title: Principal Chemist
General Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Chemist to join our laboratory team, specializing in method development and quality assurance using HPLC and ICP-MS instruments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing innovative methods, ensuring the quality and efficiency of current methods, and maintaining compliance with ISO 17025 standards. Additionally, they will contribute to process analysis and improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
What you'll be doing
- Method Development:
- Lead the development, validation, and optimization of chemical testing methods according to ISO 17025 standards
- Stay current with emerging methodologies and technologies in chemistry to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory procedures.
- Customize standard methods for specific testing objectives and ensure that developed methods are well-documented for routine use.
- Equipment Maintenance: Manage and ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of chemistry laboratory equipment and instruments
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with regulatory requirements and ensure the chemistry laboratory operates in full compliance with ISO 17025 and other regulatory standards by conducting internal audits
- Training and Development: Facilitate the training and development of laboratory staff, ensuring continual competence on laboratory methods and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and productivity of analytical methods.
- Serve as a key member of the laboratory leadership team, providing expertise and guidance on method development and quality assurance
- Coordinate with other departments and vendors to ensure the laboratory has the consumables necessary for required laboratory activities.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of chemical techniques, instrumentation, and analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO) and industry standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving projects and objectives.
- Proven track record of scientific research and project management.
- Experience in Technical writing
- Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Good computer skills, including usage of Google Workspace
- Experience in microbiology is a plus
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related science (required)
- Master's degree in chemistry or related science is a plus
- 1-5 yr of experience in chemistry research (preferred)
