OVERVIEW
Ultrasonic Systems, Inc (USI) is actively seeking an experienced Cable Assembler/Soldering Technician to join our manufacturing team.
This Cable Assembler/Soldering Technician will have a demonstrated ability to build standard and non-standard cables from blueprints and other technical documentation, start to finish with minimal supervision.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include:
- Produce a variety of cable assemblies using hand and power tools, including specialized crimpers, soldering tools, screwdrivers, wire strippers and cutters, precision measuring instruments, etc.
- Build cable assemblies to specifications as defined in blueprints and other documentation, according to written, visual and verbal work instructions
- Read and accurately interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, parts lists, blueprints and other technical documentation
- Maintain production quality by performing continuity checks on work in process, completed assemblies and inspecting products for defects
- Repair, rework defective products as needed
- Complete required work records, inventory and quality documentation as required
- Keep work area clean, and organized, perform housekeeping as needed
- Work with Engineering to develop and update cable assembly BOMs (Bills of Materials)
- Communicate with co-workers, supervisor to clarify instructions, diagrams and to advise of equipment needing maintenance, repair.
- Assist with training and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED
- English language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding. Ability to complete required production paperwork to document work, inspection results, etc.
- Good communication skills, ability to clearly present information one-on-on and small group situations to other USI employees
- Proficiency in basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Technical Literacy, such as accurately reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, parts lists, and blueprints
- Ability to regularly use a variety of hand and power tools, including crimpers, soldering tools, screwdrivers, wire strippers and cutters
- Ability to use measuring instruments and understanding readings
- Strong crimping, connectorization and soldering skills
- Ability to regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel, squeeze, reach with hands and arms and operate a range of tools.
- Visual capabilities including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to regularly sit, frequently walk and stand, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions (written, diagram, verbal)
- Minimum 2 years related experience in an assembly/production environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
