Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and orthodontic procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment
- Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) as directed by the orthodontist
- Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and providing patient comfort
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care instructions
- Perform basic laboratory duties such as pouring impressions and fabricating retainers
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history and treatment plans
- Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- Current certification in dental radiography (x-ray) preferred
- Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant preferred
- Proficiency in using dental software such as Dolphin Management or similar systems
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control protocols in a dental setting
- Familiarity with medical documentation and recordkeeping practices
- Basic understanding of dental anatomy, CAD/CAM technology, and orthodontic appliances
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
