The AHC provides an impartial, independent review of disputes between private citizens and state agencies or boards. We handle a wide variety of cases, including tax appeals, medical-marijuana license appeals, and professional-license disputes. Our team is comprised of lawyers and non-legal support staff. This position supports our non-legal staff team to ensure the office runs smoothly so our cases can run smoothly. This position reports to the Office Manager, who reports to the Managing Commissioner.

Perform a variety of clerical tasks to assist in the AHC’s operations. Depending on the day, you may be filing, docketing, answering phones, opening new cases in the AHC’s case management system, formatting draft notices and orders, processing mail, or scheduling hearings.
- Work in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, WebEx, and our case management system.
- Coordinate closely with the Office Manager, Hearings Clerk, and Paralegal to ensure all administrative tasks are completed timely.
- Complete work product accurately and timely.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in legal office environment.
- Knowledge of basic legal terminology and legal process.
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Common office and videoconferencing software;
- Office practices, procedures, and equipment; and
- Grammar, composition, and spelling.
- Abilities to:
- Provide excellent customer service;
- Work independently and exercise sound judgment;
- Maintain a high level of discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential information;
- Recognize priorities and work well under pressure; and
- Communicate effectively and function in a team.
