Responsibilities Senior Director Responsibilities
- Work as part of the senior director leadership team, in partnership with and reporting to the Executive Director, to provide leadership and direction to the organization.
- Engage with the Senior Director Team in monthly meetings and participate in combined projects.
- Participate in bi-weekly coaching/planning meetings with the Executive Director and at times, the Board of Directors.
- Represent the organization as part of its public-facing leadership, following branding guidelines and policies as set out by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Act as part of Karma Cat Rescue Society’s emergency response team.
General Development
- Together with the Executive Director, develop and oversee the annual Development Roadmap and annual Development Budget.
- Understand and incorporate KCRS’s values and policies.
- Recruit and train Development (fundraising, donor management, and grants) volunteers.
- Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential and existing donors and supporters.
- Write and collect information for stories to be used in campaigns, newsletters, and the grant process (requests and reporting).
Fundraising
- Together with the Development Team and the ED, develop and execute Karma Cat Rescue Society’s annual fundraising plan that incorporates the following (at a minimum):
- Strategize and successfully execute online fundraising campaigns
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of in-person fundraising events
- Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Oversee organization of special events
- Oversee the merchandise team
- Assist other teams within Karma Cat with their fundraising efforts
- Stay on top of fundraising trends
- Maintain detailed and transparent fundraising records
- Analyze the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness, with return on investment (RoI) as a key indicator, and to identify areas where money can be saved
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop event and solicitation materials as well as website updates
Donor Management
- Manage the use of donor management software and oversee staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
- Identify and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors and KCRS ambassadors
- Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors
- Assist Board of Director members with their individual fundraising plans on an annual basis
- Create the monthly/quarterly donor eblasts and quarterly sponsor newsletters
Grants
- Oversee grants team and provide assistance when needed
- Work with the ED to update Karma Cat’s general grant strategy and messaging
- Manage the use of grant management software
- Alongside the grants team, ensure that appropriate grants are identified, and applications are submitted in a timely fashion (at a minimum of 12 grant applications per year)
- Manage the follow-up process of grants received

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
