JOB SUMMARY
The East Hawaii Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation has an exciting opportunity to train tomorrow's Certified Nursing Assistants! Apply to this "earn while you learn" paid training program with IslandCPR to prepare yourself to earn your Certified Nursing Assistant certification. Trainee positions are temporary, and upon receiving CNA certification, candidates can apply to full- or part-time positions with Hilo Medical Center, Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home or Hale Ho'ola Hamakua.
The program will be held July 1 - August 1, 2024 at Hilo Medical Center's Intermediate Care/Extended Care department, and classes and lab will be held Mondays-Thursdays between 9 am to 5:30 pm during this timeframe. Additionally, trainees will work a shift each week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, which may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Trainees who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the CNA exam after August 1. The training program will continue after August 1, and will include a variety of shifts (days, nights, evenings, weekends, holidays).
Education will be held in person at Hilo Medical Center's Extended Care department.
Training program participants will be hired in temporary Nurse Assistant Trainee positions at $22.15/hour (with benefits). Once participants receive their CNA certification within 8 weeks of completing the program, they will be eligible to apply for available Certified Nurse Assistant positions at Hilo Medical Center, Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home or Hale Ho'ola Hamakua.
During the training program, this position will perform Nurse Assistant Trainees will promote a compassionate physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be actively working toward completion of a Certified Nurse Aide license from the State of Hawaii throughout the program. Certification to be obtained within 8 weeks of program completion.

Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.

Must be willing to assist others, including co-workers.

Must maintain regular attendance.

Must demonstrate computer literacy.

Must meet all local health regulations, pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
