Essential Duties:
· Interpret physician orders and prescriptions
· Take vitals
· Ability to interpret patient insurance requirements as it relates to the care needed
· Import data from performed testing into chart for interpretation by provider
· Measure and fit patients for orthotics and diabetic shoes
· Take measurements or impressions of the part of the patient’s body that will be fitted
· Provide patient education on orthotics, diabetic shoes, ABI’s and CGM’s.
· Perform ABI (Ankle Brachial Index) as ordered by the physician
· Application and removal of CGM’s (Continuous Glucose Monitors) as ordered
· Ordering of supplies needed for job functions
· Maintaining all returns in a timely fashion to UPS
· Ability to interpret patient insurance requirements as it relates to the care they can receive.
· Ability to interpret reports to provide recalls to patients who have received diabetic shoes
· Adjust, repair or replace orthotic devices
· Document patient care within the EHR
· Other duties as requested
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma
· 1+ years with orthotics/diabetic shoe fitting preferred
· Certified orthotics and diabetic shoe fitter preferred but not required
· Strong understanding of medical terminology
· Problem analysis and problem-solving capabilities
· Ability to work in an autonomous roll that is fast paced
· Current Basic Life Support Certificate
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Work is performed in a typical, well-lighted office and exam/procedure room setting.
· Work involves frequent contact with staff and patients.
· Work involves considerable walking, standing, bending, twisting and reaching.
· May required lifting a maximum of 30 pounds.
· Excessive viewing of computer screens
