Outdoor Recreation Coordinator
Job Description
GENERAL OUTDOOR RECREATION DUTIES
- Development and implementation of Outdoor Recreation Activities - Movies and Concerts in the Parks; Nature-centered Learning Programs and Projects; Winter Activities; Trail Development.
- Coordination of park maintenance and park development projects with the Department of Public Works, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the DCNR work crews. This requires working with college and high school students to achieve an elevated learning experience for participants.
- Establish and promote volunteer groups in the Township including: Gardening; Community Day; Parks Planning; Special Events; Trail Building and Maintenance Projects.
- Marketing/Communication to residents regarding program offerings and volunteer opportunities
- Working at the rec center during programming and facility rentals on an as needed basis
ATHLETIC FIELD RELATED DUTIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Fields Maintenance Plan
- Manage athletic field permitting for all Township fields
- Performs regular monitoring of all township fields (13 in total) to assess and document field conditions, actual use, and safety inspections
- Representing the Township at Athletic Advisory Board meetings
- Training and supervision, when applicable, of Athletic Association Field maintenance workers (volunteers) and organizing group training programs
- Marketing to local businesses - Advertising Banners, Sponsorships, and Concession Stand use at Herb Field.
- Assessing and developing opportunities for hosting clinics and/or tournaments on Ross Township Fields.
QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Previous Experience with Athletic Fields using or maintaining
- Experience with Outdoor Education preferred
- Ability to work with a variety of standard computer software applications
- Excellent organizational (short and long-term) and communication skills are critical. Must be able to recognize and conduct standardized practices for public service implementation.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Parks & Recreation; Public Management; Sports Management; Environmental Education; or commensurate experience is preferred
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
- PA Child Abuse Clearance; State Police Background Check; FBI Background Check

WORK ENVIRONMENT

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office environment with occasional work in outside weather conditions which may include wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles.
- This position requires a Monday through Friday schedule (8am-3:30pm); Some weekends are required during summer events and the winter basketball season; Additionally, work-related meeting attendance such as representation at Athletic Advisory Board meetings is required.
- This position is exempt under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions.
- Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 30 pounds.
- Possess speech and hearing capabilities effective enough for communication.
- Possess sufficient vision to read a computer screen and printed documents.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
