Job Summary:

Understands and manifests the philosophy and mission of ADSSA.

Develops curriculum for developmentally appropriate activities with team teachers

Assists children by working with them individually or in groups
-
Implements and assists teacher assistants in lesson planning
-
Facilitates children’s learning by providing a rich learning environment and managing the classroom so that children can be independent
-
Interact with children in a nurturing and supportive manner
-
Leads the team in ensuring that the classroom is safe at all times
-
Prepares materials and sets up learning centers with her team
-
Make observations of children’s behavior and accomplishments and makes documentations for children’s portfolios
-
Keeps teachers’ assistants informed of essential information regarding children in their care
-
Models appropriate and respectful behaviors toward children, families, co-workers and members of the community at all times
-
Participates in, and is available for parent conferences to communicate behavioral assessments and achievements of children in care
-
Must be familiar with TDFPS Minimum Standards, Star Provider Criteria and NAEYC Accreditation Standards and meet all criteria

Attends and contributes at monthly staff meetings
-

Minimum Qualifications:
-
Associates degree in Early Childhood Development or related field and two years’ experience in classroom management; or
-
Child Development Associates (CDA) certification from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition and four years of experience in classroom management

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.

Meets and maintains minimum training hours as required by ADSSA and the Texas Star Provider Program
-
C.P.R. Certification and First Aid Training as required
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
