Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary patient screenings, including confrontational fields and medical history
- Assist ophthalmologists in various procedures, such as eye exams and diagnostic tests
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the physician
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems (e.g., NextGen)
- Educate patients on proper eye care
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Assist with inventory management of ophthalmic supplies
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and eye care procedures
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Ability to perform basic vision tests, including visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems (e.g., Epic)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work with patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Knowledge of optical sales is a plus
