Sterile Processing & Distribution (SPD) Technician
We’re looking for team members who are ready to contribute their skills and expertise to improve our rapidly growing system.
The Sterile Processing & Distribution (SPD) Technician provides a variety of technical functions in the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and other medical supplies in compliance with policies and procedures of Perioperative Services, AORN, JCAHO, OSHA, and AAMI standards. The SPD Technician must have a working knowledge of decontamination, instrumentation, and sterilization.
· Assures decontamination of instrumentation in accordance with manufactures recommendations and AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) standards.
· Acts as a liaison between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing to communicate the changes and needs for subsequent cases.
· Maintains effective communication to insure appropriate instrumentation is available for surgery.
· Sterilizes instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and AAMI standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited CS/SPD Technician course OR one (1) year of sterile processing experience in a centralized department or surgical instrument room.
- Basic working knowledge of computers.
- Able to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
- National certification as CSPD Technician from CBSPD or certification as a CRCST from IAHCSMM, preferred.
- Three years sterile processing experience in a centralized department or surgical instrument room, preferred.
