We are pleased to announce that Mayo Clinic is offering a NEW Sterile Processing Tech Paid Internship program. This 14-week training program will expose interns to multiple surgical specialties and locations within the surgical practice. Upon completion of the internship, interns will have the opportunity to select an area that is a good fit for them.
Following completion of the program, employees will apply to full or part-time positions supporting various surgical specialties. Depending on position availability, schedules will include 8, 10 & 12-hour shifts. Positions within Surgical Services have various start times which could include 7am, 9am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm, 7pm and 11pm; overtime as needed and weekends depending on position selection.
DESCRIPTION:
- Responsible for performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient.
- Prepares and delivers medical/surgical supplies, instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Cleans, packages, and processes surgical equipment and instrumentation, as well as maintains inventory and storage of supplies in the core.
- Manages multiple computer applications to assist with sterilization tracking and processes.
- Responsible to operate and troubleshoot power equipment to process instruments (i.e. autoclaves, washer disinfector, ultrasonic cleaners).
Position location may be at Saint Mary's Campus or Methodist Campus based on position offered.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is not eligible for F-1 OPT STEM extension.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a two-year commitment is needed for this position.
Additional qualifications
- Frequent lifting/carrying of 25 pounds or more, with occasional work above shoulder level.
License or certification
- Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within 18 months of hire.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.54 - $20.21 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
