Industrial Painter
Diab Americas, an AS9100 certified facility, located in Desoto, Texas (15 minutes from downtown Dallas) is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to join our team. We are looking for an Industrial Painter with experience painting a variety of composite and metal surfaces in the automotive, aircraft and marine industries, using a wide array of painting tools.
Position Summary:
Our Industrial Painters are responsible painting composite and metal parts and operating and maintaining the paint booth, technical equipment, and painting tools in working order. The position requires attention to detail, good dexterity, and the ability to meet quality standards and production needs. Must have hands on/can do attitude.
Salary: Negotiable, depending upon qualifications and relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare surfaces of composite and metal parts for painting: Sanding – dry and wet, fairing, cleaning surfaces, masking off prior to paint application.
· Prime and paint composite and metal parts to specific dry film thickness.
· Operate and maintain paint booth, including heat cycles.
· Operate and maintain paint equipment in good working order.
· Document quality and material information of each component.
· Maintain quality records and dry film thickness of primers and topcoats.
· Utilize different painting techniques based on nature of the surface.
· Read and interpret engineering drawings for paint specifications.
· Read and follow technical data sheet instructions.
· Use viscosity cups and thickness gauges to measure paint and primers.
· Painting small items and doing touch up.
· Survey parts for surface finish acceptance.
· Measure and document dry film thickness
· Work closely with fabricators and finishers.
· Work safely and properly dispose of chemical waste.
· Maintain housekeeping requirements within assigned area/s.
· Understand and comply with PPE requirements – including respirator use medical evaluation.
Academic/Training Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent – Required.
· NACE certification or equivalent, a bonus.
Required Skills / Experience:
· Minimum 24 months industrial painting experience – Automotive, Aircraft, Marine or other relevant industrial field.
· Experience painting a variety of surface types.
· Paint booth experience.
· Ability to produce sprayed finishes with little or no problems and a consistent gloss and texture to meet customer specifications, with little need to buff.
· Ability to meet paint quality standards; no contaminates, orange peel, fisheyes, or pinholes.
· Ability to meet production requirements.
· Ability to specify equipment.
· Proficiency with technical machinery.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for paint specifications.
· Ability to operate and maintain machinery.
· Ability to use small hand and power tools, including drills, sander, scissors, chisel, box cutter, allen wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
· Ability to use measuring tools, including calipers, tape measure, templates, etc.
· Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
· Ability to read and follow technical data sheet instructions.
· Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to read, comprehend and perform to Quality System Documentation.
· Good time management and organizational skills.
· General math skills.
· Ability to maintain attendance in accordance with company attendance policies.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, weekends, or overtime as required in support of customer demand.
· Ability to understand and comply with company policies and Health & Safety requirements.
· Ability to understand and comply with PPE requirements – including respirator use medical evaluation.
· Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
· Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
· Ability to stand for duration of shift.
· Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
