Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to our flat fee attorney and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and real estate closing statements
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic filing systems
- Manage calendars, including scheduling appointments, court dates, and meetings
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently
- Utilize document management systems for file organization
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Proficiency in iManage or similar document management software
- Familiarity with Lexis-Nexis or other legal research tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Excellent phone etiquette when interacting with clients and colleagues
- Capability to assist in drafting legal documents under attorney supervision
- Experience in contract review and management is a plus
