As a dental administrative assistant, you’ll be responsible for managing various administrative tasks within the dental office. Your role is essential in creating a positive patient experience and maintaining efficient office operations. Here are the key duties and responsibilities:
- Greeting Patients: Welcome patients as they arrive at the dental practice. Inquire about their purpose of visit and make them feel comfortable.
- Patient Interviews: Conduct preliminary interviews with patients to determine their dental issues, past dental histories, and other relevant information. Accurately record this information.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule appointments for patients over the phone and in person. Provide appointment reminders to ensure patients don’t miss their scheduled visits.
- Waitlist Management: If appointments are canceled, replace them with patients to maximize scheduling efficiency.
- Insurance Verification: Obtain patients’ insurance information and verify coverage by contacting insurance companies via phone and email.
- Patient Flow Management: Ensure an appropriate patient volume by managing scheduling effectively.
- Supply Inventory: Oversee office and dental supplies inventory. Communicate low stock situations to the office manager.
- Communication with Dental Team: Keep dentists and dental assistants informed of any changes in schedules so they can plan their work accordingly.
- Record Keeping: Create and maintain accurate patient records, ensuring they are updated regularly.
