Rainy Days Irrigation is seeking a Senior Irrigation Technician. $25-35/hour, based on your production.

We define a Senior Irrigation Technician as being proficient in the following:
- Driving van/truck- must be able to safely drive vehicle, park, and back up.
- Driving van/truck with trailer - must be able to safely drive vehicle, park, and back up.
Must be able to install and program:
- Traditional controller
- Smart controller
Must be able to connect a rain sensor. Wired and wireless.
Must be able to separate or add zones as the landscape requires. Must be able to spot fault in system layout.
Must be able to:
- Diagnose.
- Determine repair plan.
- Determine if the controller can support system expansion/modification after proposed repair is complete.
- Decide on material and equipment required.
- Estimate labor hours.
- Compose estimate in our dispatching application.
Must have knowledge of backflow connections for:
- Copper pipe
- Pex pipe
- PVC pipe
Read 811 markings
- Gas - yellow
- Electric - red
- Cable/fiber (communications) - orange
- Sewage - green (only locate from curb to clean-out)
- Water - blue (only locate from curb to meter)
Must be able to:
- Perform a Spring start-up
- Winter shut down
- Repair a leak
Diagnose any problems in a system to include but not limited to
- System leaks
- Drainage
- Wiring
- Bad control valve
- Control timer
- Rain sensor
- Pressure issues
- Pump Issues
- Filters
Have electrical knowledge.
- Making connections (wired connections, connect to controller, connection to rain sensors, control valves, transformers, booster-pumps)
- Read/use ohm/volt meter (identify open wire)
- Trace problems related to “Add-A-Zone” station doubler and “NODE”s
- Understand ohm readings across different brand control valves.
- Know the difference in high voltage and low voltage solutions and what tools to use for each.
- Must be able to trace wire to locate valves.
- Train client to use controller and set up efficient watering zones.
- Must know how to replace/repair:
- Heads
- Nozzles
- Valves
- Pipe
- Drip line
- Have extensive knowledge of:
- Gear heads
- Van Nozzles
- MPR
- Can program controllers according to use of each of the above.
Extensive knowledge of landscape lighting.
- Connections.
- Changing bulbs.
- Adjusting timers.
- Layouts
Extensive Drainage knowledge/ability
- French drains
- Buried downspouts
- Dry creek beds
Must be able to safely operate a dingo or similar machine.
In addition to the above, you will also:
- Help with training new technicians, being available via phone to help troubleshoot or otherwise assist other technicians.
- Be able to layout and install additions to existing systems.
- Need little to no direction from MGMT or other techs to be able to perform your daily responsibilities.
