Position Summary:
- The Nursing Director for Medical Surgical department is the first line manager designated for this
- specific nursing area, its patient population, and assigned staff. The Nursing Director has 24-hour
- responsibility for unit's activity. Plans, coordinates, directs the fiscal, personnel and patient care
- activities to assure the standards of care and standards of practice are met as appropriate for the
- patient care needs and the age of the patient in as cost-effective manner as possible. Responsible
- for integration of the nursing area (s) into the overall functioning of the organization.
Position: Director of Med/Surg

Duration: Full Time/Permanent
Salary: $100,000.00 to $136,500.00 per year + All Benefits + Relocation Assistance.
Shift: Day (Monday to Friday)
Must-Haves:
- A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon
- hire.
- At least a Associates Degree in Nursing.
- Previous clinical director experience in a hospital setting.
Nice-To-Haves:
- 5+ years in clinical nursing; preferably in Medical/Surgical.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Master of Science in Nursing.
- ACLS & PALS certification.
- Clinical experience in critical care hospital setting.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,
- administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information
- technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance
- and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions,
- and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department
- operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Minimum Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire.
