Title: Full-time Therapist/Group Facilitator
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 2 years’ experience with the substance abuse population and 12-step model. Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or LMFT in the District of Columbia. Therapist must have a minimum 1 year of sobriety if in recovery.
Reports to: Clinical Director
Basic Functions: A front line interaction with clients; to assist clients in recovery from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders through counseling, education, role modeling, peer-to-peer community work, using experiential and evidence-based modalities to help bring about change and growth.
Demonstrates positive role modeling, and adhering to proper code of ethics and protocol of documentation. Facilitates scheduled individual sessions and therapeutic groups. Creates and executes individualized treatment plans for individual clients on a case-by-case basis.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing for and providing direct client services, as assigned
- Provides individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and case management on a weekly basis
- Completes client biopsychosocial assessments, suicide risk assessment, Safety plan within 24 hours of client’s admission.
- Responsible for client’s care from intake until the time of discharge.
- Facilitates psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational group sessions, as credentialed
- Develops group topics based on collective client needs as identified in treatment plans, utilizes established curricula where appropriate, applies evidence-based practices and follows treatment team clinical recommendations
- Participates in weekly clinical team meetings, assisting in individual client treatment planning and goal setting
- Provides crisis intervention and management services, as needed
- Utilizing the organization’s electronic health record (EHR), documents all services provided (e.g., individual, group, family) and collateral contacts in a timely manner
- Participates in clinical supervision weekly or as otherwise required
- Communicates with the treatment team members regarding client responses to therapy and any concerning issues that arise in group sessions or elsewhere
- Provides coverage of psychotherapy groups for colleagues as needed or assigned
- Participates in other Verve program and recovery community activities
