The Lead CMA works to maintaining efficient patient flow and quality during clinic hours. This role performs phlebotomy, prepares specimens for transport, performs controls on point of care testing, nursing visits and provides training and support for other staff as requested.
Provide direct patient care such as injections, immunizations, CLIA waived labs, catheter changes, ear irrigations, suture removal, cast removal, dressing changes, and basic wound care.
Check in patients, assisting them in the exam room, obtain and record vital signs, update medical history and medication record.
Clean and straighten exam rooms between patient visits and at the end of the day. Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner. Make sure exam rooms are properly stocked with necessary supplies.
Perform phlebotomy for clinic patients as directed by providers. Manage office laboratory functions including specimen collection, preparation, documenting and shipping to laboratories.
Schedule and manage clinic nursing visits for coumadin management, allergy injections, point of care testing and injections as ordered by providers.
