Purchaser
The Purchaser is a critical member of the SensorLink Operations department. It is the responsibility of the Purchaser to source components, supplies, equipment, and external services used by the Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams. The Purchaser is responsible for controlling costs, ensuring material quality, and providing a high level of timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The following job functions are essential for successful performance of the Purchaser role:
- On a daily basis, performs all procurement activities and administers purchase orders in conformance to applicable purchasing procedures and policies, develops manufacturing demand requirements through Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools, and communicates with SensorLink suppliers regarding order status, quotes, etc.
- Interfaces with Production, Engineering, Sales, and Accounting teams to manage and plan inventory levels appropriately.
- Assists in the development of budgets and purchasing controls.
- Conducts analysis on material usage, inventory, BOM relationships, and purchasing/cost history.
- Preparation of requests for quote (RFQ) and evaluation of quotations for procurement.
- Maintains item settings within the ERP system for accurate planning, purchasing and accounting functions.
- Develops and maintains reports and metrics to ensure purchasing strategies go according to plan. Uses information from reports to make decisions or take actions as appropriate to improve strategy and supplier performance.
- Initiates and coordinates with suppliers to investigate and resolve supplier quality and delivery issues.
- Negotiates best pricing, terms & conditions, assures product delivery, negotiates delivery schedule changes.
- Responsible for maintaining relationships with suppliers as well as monitoring supplier performance according to quality system requirements.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma and additional, relevant industry training required.
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is an absolute requirement.
- Supply chain and inventory management certifications are a plus (CPIM, CSCP, etc.).
- Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills
- Experience in an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Must have excellent written/verbal skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma
- Ability to work under fast-paced, frequently-changing operational requirements is expected.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
