OPERATIONS MANAGER SUMMARY
Milestone has a current opening for Operations Manager for our slurry injection oilfield disposal facility located in Center, TX. Primary responsibilities are to manage the daily operation, disposal and maintenance of an E&P waste disposal facility. Where applicable, oversees pump processes, slurry injection well operation, washout processes and overall plant facility management. Ensures compliance with established environmental, regulatory, safety and operating standards, policies and emergency response procedures. Provides excellent customer service to customer community.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
- Develops projects, deadlines and work to be done at facility. Monitors work and ensures that team members are meeting or exceeding productivity and quality standards.
- Models safe work practices and provides leadership in achieving safety goals. Ensures that safety awareness is ongoing, that good housekeeping is practiced and that environmental and safety regulatory requirements are met. Reports potential problems to VP Operations on a timely basis.
- Works to coordinate crews maximizing productivity and minimizing down-time.
- Coordinates with Human Resources on recruitment of staff for facility and makes staffing decisions and performance management decisions where needed to hire, release and retain talent.
- Proactively manages safety, plant appearance and environmental issues and ensures compliance with federal and state standards including waste disposal and air quality standards. Ensures that issues are identified and addressed and elevated if necessary in a timely manner.
- Provides information to top management on accidents, causes and cost containment objectives.
- Provides technical guidance, troubleshoots, and diagnoses complex operational problems and resolves or coordinates resolution of technical issues/problems on a pro-active basis.
- Establishes maintenance schedules and ensures that routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection and minor repair is performed on equipment. Works with mechanics, equipment manufacturers and outside sources to quickly repair and restore equipment to meet performance requirements.
- Manages P&L for facility including budgeting and salary planning for facility staff.
- Works with Sales and Customer Service and other internal departments to communicate and resolve customer concerns in a timely manner.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT THE JOB:
- High School diploma, trade school or general education degree (GED) required with ability to read, write and comprehend English required (operational process, safety and quality instructions). Some college/ degree preferred. PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- At least five years operations and supervisory experience with thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques used in a similar environment utilize heavy equipment. Mechanical aptitude essential along with scheduling and cost control experience.
- Exposure to shift scheduling cost control, safety, environmental and facilities/capital equipment management.
- Demonstrates leadership ability and ability to coordinate resources (personnel, equipment, materials, facilities, funds and reputation).
- Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.
- Must have the ability to diagnose process problems, troubleshoot basic equipment and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
- Must understand and follow all safety policies and apply good safety practices while working and possess an exemplary safety record.
- Must have ability to handle diverse tasks simultaneously and be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment with interruptions. Adaptation to change essential.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection Equipment.
- Must pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical and background check.
- Must have ability to communicate at all levels including engineers, operations staff, mechanical and electrical staff and with customers.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Be an example of integrity and honesty to the less experienced staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS
- Spends 50 % aount of time in operations environment and 50% time in the office environment.
- May need to drive company vehicles in the course of job duties. Occasional travel for training and meetings. Exposed to possible operations hazards including dust, fumes, chemicals, machinery, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards.
