We are a fast paced, high volume podiatry practice located in The Villages, Florida. This position involves constant interaction with our patients to ensure that they have an excellent experience in our practice. Positive energy in everything you do and a love of all people is a must for this job!
While medical experience is helpful, it is not a requirement. We are willing to train the right person! Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Open Sterilization, turn on x-ray, and open exam rooms
- Triaging patients, taking vitals, and prepping patient, chart, and exam room for physician
- Obtain x-rays, consents and pictures as appropriate
- Close out visit with patients, wrap wounds, burr nails, explain instructions, etc. as necessary
- Clean and disinfect exam room, instruments as appropriate
- Schedule patient for upcoming appointments
- Shut down sterilization, x-ray, and close/restock exam rooms
- Downloading and attaching of all pictures from camera as needed, daily
- Documentation, preparation, and submission of culture and biopsy specimens as needed
- Unpacking and stocking of all boxes received, daily
- Prep clinical supplies and exam rooms for following week
- Counting of medical, DME, and retail supplies monthly
- Attend departmental seminars, webinars, training, and meetings as necessary
Other:
- Interact with patients, physicians, and other staff both within the Clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information
- Ensure efficient telephone communication
- Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families
- Work as a team member within the patient services department and all other departments
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
- Effectively cope with typical job stress
- Document work processes as required
- Cross trained to provide back in other administrative areas, including the front desk if needed
- Always maintain professional demeanor with patients, caregivers, visitors, and co-workers
- Maintain satisfactory, regular, and predictable attendance by reporting to work as scheduled, and keeping unscheduled absences to a minimum
- Ensure all communications reflect the standards and mission of the Practice
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
- Display a consistently positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous, and professional attitude

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Able to read, write, and speak English
- Oral and written communication skills required in dealing with patients, co-workers, and public
- Basic computer skills, understanding a windows environment required or must be willing to learn PC competencies as required for the position

- Customer service oriented, responding promptly to patient’s needs

Duties:
- Assist healthcare professionals in providing patient care and treatment
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and billing
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant patient information
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens for testing
- Assist with X-Ray procedures, including positioning patients and operating X-Ray equipment
- Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment
- Provide patient education on healthcare topics and instructions for follow-up care
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and basic anatomy
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other medical software
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
