Job Summary:
Reporting to the Board Treasurer and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Development Director (Director) will plan and implement a development and fundraising program to provide for Wheel Fun’s short- and long-term needs as Wheel Fun continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Development Director will have the opportunity to build the development function.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Work closely with the Board and Executive Director to refine Wheel Fun’s mission, purpose and priorities.
- Establish long term fundraising objectives.
- Develop and manage Wheel Fun’s annual fundraising plan.
- Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
- Develop and maintain a list of financial donor prospects, including corporations, foundations and individuals.
- Develop and maintain ongoing donor relationships.
- Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors and business sponsors.
- Work closely with the Board’s grant committee to research potential sources of, and apply for, grants and public funding. Develop and track grant proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
- Oversee the fundraising process and maintain records of receipts and disbursements of funds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Professional Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Transparent and high integrity leadership.
- Three or more years senior nonprofit management experience.
- Prior success working with a Board of Directors.
- Fundraising Experience including a history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
- Active fundraising and marketing experience. Proven donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
- Prior success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.
- Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong public speaking ability.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
Location: Tucson or Pima County.
Work Schedule: Full-time 40 hours per week during regular business hours and occasionally during the evenings or weekends pending appointments and other travel.
Work Environment: This employee will work primarily remotely in the Tucson/Pima County area. This position requires some same-day and overnight travel to fill the job description. The individual must have access to a vehicle, which must be available as needed for work travel (mileage reimbursement provided). Must be able to drive, stand and sit for extended periods of time and be able to life 25 pounds. All employees will be subject to a background check.
Compensation: Salary – $60,000 - $70,000 Negotiable based on experience.
