What you can expect in this role:
- Site Assessment: Conduct a thorough site evaluation to determine the optimal location for the generator. Consider factors like space availability, ventilation, noise concerns, and proximity to electrical panels.
- Generator Assembly and Installation: Physically install the generator, including assembling components, connecting fuel and electrical lines, and securing the generator in place. Ensure all connections meet local building codes and safety standards.
- Electrical Wiring and Connection: You will work alongside electricians who will safely connect the generator to the building's electrical system, including transfer switches, distribution panels, and control wiring.
- Fuel System Setup: Configure the fuel supply system (propane or natural gas). Ensure the fuel lines are properly connected, and install any necessary fuel storage systems, such as tanks and fuel monitoring equipment.
- Testing and Commissioning: Conduct comprehensive tests and commissioning procedures to ensure the generator operates as expected. This includes load testing, voltage and frequency checks, and verifying the automatic transfer switch (ATS) functions correctly during power outages.
What skills/experience you'll need to be considered for this role:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of electrical experience required; Generac Certification highly preferred. *Candidates that hold a Generac Certification will be considered for a higher pay rate.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Respond promptly to service calls, meeting or exceeding expected timeframes. Discuss customer requests and complete work within estimated costs and timelines.
- Technical Proficiency: Follow specifications on blueprints or technical drawings for installations, ensuring precision and quality.
- Code Compliance: Conduct all installations in strict accordance with local municipal codes.
- Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Independence: Demonstrate the ability to work independently, taking ownership of your projects.
- Customer Service Excellence: Exhibit outstanding customer service skills to ensure customer satisfaction.
