Optometrist
An established health services organization based in New York City has an immediate opening for an Optometrist. Our ambulatory care facilities are staffed with a wide range of health professionals to provide extensive medical and diagnostic services.
The Optometrist will test the patient’s general eye health and level of vision. They will also screen for diseases affecting the eye and ascertain whether the patient needs corrective lenses or other types of corrective eye wear.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Examine eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.
· Analyze test results.
· Develop plan of treatment/care for the patient which also includes education and follow-up visits.
· Prescribe medication/eye wear to treat eye disease and make referrals, as indicated by the needs of the patient.
· Communicates with Ophthalmologist and other health care providers related to diagnosis, treatment and plan for the patient either verbally and/or through documentation in the medical record.
· Maintains current and complete documentation in the medical record that reflects the care and services provided to the patient.
Required Qualifications:
· Current license as an OD in New York State.
· Current BCLS certification and Infection Control certification
· Meets all the requirements for appointment/reappointment as a member of the medical staff.
