Deli Clerks play an important role in the success of our business, influencing customer experiences in the Deli department in many ways
– product presentation, item availability on the sales floor, product freshness, pricing accuracy, department cleanliness and sanitation, and
importantly, delivering remarkable service using product knowledge and suggestive selling. The position reports to the Deli Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting each customer with, “Good (morning, afternoon, evening)! Welcome to Rouses!”
- Engaging in appropriate conversations with customers and thanking them for choosing to shop with us
- Assisting in the preparation of products, including thawing, ingredient prep and cooking
- Packaging offerings according to Rouse's specifications
- Using the scale to weigh and label items
- Setting cases according to planograms, using signage and pricing labels as directed
- Stocking cases and displays to maintain a fresh and full appearance
- Rotating and pulling items on the sales floor and in the cooler and freezer by date and taking appropriate action
- Serving customers in the steam line
- Using the point-of-sale system (cash register) to complete customer transactions
- Understanding the store layout to easily locate products for customers
- Completing assigned daily cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Maintaining a professional personal brand representation in the proper Rouse's uniform
- Reporting to work on time and as scheduled
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
Ability to acquire a Food Handler Card (Alabama stores) within 90 days of hire
Prior experience working in a retail deli or cold cut department
Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand for extended periods of time
Able to distinguish product quality and freshness standards
Able to stoop, squat, reach and maneuver to move product, boxes, bags, shelving, carts and equipment
Able to lift 50 lbs.

Pay: $9.00 - $17.00 per hour
